Aprils Funk, links and news.

A budding Funky Friday presenter
The last schedule has been extended for a month due to the recent demise of Prescap, Aprils Funk went out on 27th. I made a mistake with the dates for May Funk, it is not the 18th but the 25th.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prescap  closed on the 11th of April. With the lack of funding, they have not been able to continue. Over the last few years, Prescap, inc Preston FM have helped thousands of people, including myself to realise potential within. The staff, all but Richard will be made redundant in the last week in March.
I must convey a big thank you to them, for their patience, skill and their belief in people. I certainly wish them all well and so very much like to see them in the future.

Preston FM will continue. A transition committee has been formed and will be run by us volunteers. There are legal eagles working on unlocking tied in funds, we are also in need of donations to tide us over. If you are able to spare a bit, pop into Fox Street. If not, please pass this on.

The Penwortham Pumpkin Patch is coming along well. A gift of 7 tonnes of compost from Global Renewables was shifted in record time.

The next working party is on 12th of May. We will also be setting weekly dates as things progress, all the info will be on the SRTT website.
The Pumpkin Patch is off Apinal Close, Kingsfold, Penwortham

If you would like to get involved, have a patch of land in your area that you think could be used to grow vegetables and fruit, follow the link.
All are welcome.

Well back into the swing of things again. As the Council year comes to an end there are dedicated Officers looking at all the stuff that needs to be done before the end of the year. The Mayor Installation ceremony happens on the 1st May at 7pm.
For an agenda and further information visit Penwortham Town Councils' web site. You will find all the stuff you need.
There are many opportunities to get involved at the various committees, there are also external groups who look after parks, ponds and the war memorial.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firework night, probably Lancashire's finest free firework display hosted by The Town Council, the public raised nearly £2000. A great turn out and a great contribution to the Mayors Charity
The fireworks are still free and can be seen here  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S_ARJEiFnw

The Town Council has offices to let in their building, I did go and have a look, the smallest starts from £50 a week and includes many things. If you need an office or know some one who may do, give them a ring at the Community Centre

You will also find links to their Facebook site and all the info you will need.
The council meets the first Tuesday of every month, but, remember this is the Guild Year, so check the web site for details.

They are on twitter too  @Mick_Cronin

Lastly, I have been running a feature on the Music and Poems of Britains North Isles.

In March we featured Fiona Driver who is from Orkney, April sees Fair Isles own Malachy Tallack
Tune in to Preston FM on Friday 25th of May for our next slice of the North.
